Global superstars BTS, from South Korea, are not only just known for their music but also for their philanthropic work. Since some of their donations are made public, they get highlighted in media. Their fandom, ARMY, is arguably the biggest fanbase to exist. As the group continues to break records with their music, their philanthropic work is also taken forward by the ARMY. With their organized efforts, they often roll campaigns including the ones around BTS members' birthdays.
Indian fanclub of BTS, @bangtan_india, kicked off the birthday campaign in the name of three members - Jungkook (Sept. 1), RM (Sept. 12) and Jimin (Oct. 13). This time, they raised funds for Cuddles Foundation that works towards providing nutrition to children undergoing cancer treatment. The campaign, that kicked off on August 26, raised over Rs. 3,21,000.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama about the campaign, bangtan_india said, "We always try to do projects that allow us and fellow ARMYs to give back, to celebrate the members' birthdays and their debut anniversary! This year has not been any different in that sense. There isn't any set rule as to which charity we choose. We were looking for organizations to donate to and came across Cuddles Foundation, and their mission really resonated with us, and so we decided to donate to them."
"These donations really mean a lot for the team. Over the years, we have seen our fellow ARMYs also appreciate this as they could donate through us as well. BTS too has always inspired us with their acts of giving back to the society and so to be able to do the same with the unity of ARMYs really makes this whole journey precious. We don't always have a set goal, and we are always grateful if someone is able to donate even the smallest amount. It is the feeling of making the birthdays and anniversary of BTS, who give us strength, hope, happiness when we need it the most, even more, special that keeps us going," the fan club said.
According to the official website, their "vision is to give every child fighting cancer a chance to survive it. We’re a child-centric organisation - which means - if faced with a decision between budgets and the survival of a child, we choose the latter, always. We work through partnerships with government and charitable hospitals that treat underprivileged children for cancer."
Cuddles Foundation provides children undergoing treatment with "food, hot meals, nutritional supplements and ration baskets as per their requirements so that the kids have the strength to fight their cancer."
