A week ago, several Bollywood producers and film associations came together and filed a lawsuit against two news channels for defaming the industry through their reporting. Senior actress and BJP MP Hema Malini recently supported the lawsuit and said that in her career in the industry she has never been disrespected.
Talking to an entertainment portal, Hema Malini said that the insults were getting too much. She said that the industry does not claim to be unblemished but to label them druggies and evil was shameful and intolerable. The actress who has been a part of the industry for forty years said that she has never misbehaved nor has anyone misbehaved with h ever.
Several other actors also stood in support of the lawsuit filed by 34 top Bollywood producers and 4 film associations. They have filed a civil suit in the Delhi High Court against Republic TV journalists Arnab Goswami and Pradeep Bhandari as well as Times Now journalists Navika Kumar and Rahul Shivshankar. The producers include Excel Entertainment, Yash Raj Films, Dharma Productions, as well as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, among others.
