BTS makes a clean sweep at MAMA 2020 second year in a row; gives jaw-dropping performance all the way from Seoul World Cup Stadium

The year-end award season has begun in South Korea. A day ago, global popstars BTS won seven awards at the 2020 Melon Music Awards - Artist of The Year, Song of The Year ('Dynamite'), Album of The Year ('Map Of The Soul: 7'), Netizen Popularity Awards, Best Dance Track - Male ('Dynamite') and Top 10 at MMAs 2020. Popular Korean artist IU's 'Eight' ft. BTS' Suga won Best Rock Award. Today, once again, they made a clean sweep at the 2020 MNet Asian Music Awards.

BTS makes a clean sweep at MAMA 2020 second year in a row; gives jaw-dropping performance all the way from Seoul World Cup Stadiumon awards for Best Male Dance Performance ('Dynamite'), Album of The Year ('Map Of The Soul: 7'), Worldwide Fan’s Choice Top 10, Best Music Video ('Dynamite'), Worldwide Icon of the Year, 2020 Visionary, Best Male Group, Song of the Year ('Dynamite') and Artist of the Year. Popular Korean artist IU and Suga won Best Collaboration for 'Eight'. This makes them the only artist to win awards in all major categories two years in a row. This also makes BTS the first artist in history to earn more than 50 Daesangs, currently at 51.

While their speeches were moving and they remembered Suga in each of them as he is recovering from shoulder surgery, RM, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook put up a show to be remembered by generations to come. BTS pre-recorded their closing ceremony set at Seoul World Cup Stadium and used the Augmented Reality technology, that was earlier used in their Map Of The Soul ON:E concerts as well.

Dressed in all white with color guard attached the outfits and surrounded by a marching band in the grand stadium, BTS kicked off the performance with 'ON' after their VCR played which was a callback to their official music video. The dance break was truly impactful as they owned the performance in true BTS fashion.

This was followed by the 'Dynamite' stage and once again it was a tribute to the King of Pop, late Michael Jackson. The set was a recreated version of the rainbow tunnel photoshoot he had done during the Victory/Off the Wall tour in 1984. While the performance was truly amazing, this ode to MJ again was majestic.

Lastly, BTS ended the performance with 'Life Goes On' from their latest album 'BE'. Depicting the current scenario of the world amid the pandemic, the set was created in such a way where everyone was wearing masks as the world sort of came to a standstill. As the song progressed, the people started to move around them depicting how life actually goes on and we have to continue moving forward. But, the highlight of the performance was how Suga was incorporated into the performance. He shot a hologram of himself and it was put together in the performance using AR technology.

BTS is in a league of their own. They have taken full advantage of the virtual performances by putting together sets and concepts that they might not have had the opportunity to do so during live concerts. The back-to-back year-end performances have proven their efforts to show uniqueness with spectacular concepts, choreographies and set the bar so high. This MAMA 2020 performance was Superbowl Halftime Show level-esque or maybe more than that. Topping their last year's performances, this is what you get from Grammy-nominated, multiple platinum, chart-toppers!
